Library Acquisitions
January 2021 – The Whittemore Library is now subscribed to “Ebsco’s Academic eBook Collection”, a multi-disciplinary collection containing over 200,000 books from a wide range of fields. These eBooks can be found using our Ram Search or by visiting our A-Z database listing and clicking on the “Ebsco eBooks” link. By using either of these methods, you can search for eBooks by subject, author, title or browse by category.
Additionally, the Library is participating in a trial of “Proquest eBook Central”. This service has an expansive collection of nearly 200,000 eBooks that can be explored through a text search, or browsed by diverse subject headings. This service can be accessed by visiting our A-Z database listing and clicking on the link for “Proquest eBook Central”.

September 2020 - The Whittemore Library is participating in a trial of a new database Academic Video Online (AVON) until November 30, 2020. The AVON database is a very comprehensive streaming video site. According to AVON, “the database includes scholarly video material of virtually every video type: documentaries, interviews, performances, news programs and newsreels, field recordings, commercials, demonstrations, original and raw footage including tens of thousands of exclusive tiles. There are thousands of award-winning films, Academy,® Emmy,® and Peabody® winners along with the most frequently used films for classroom instruction, plus newly released films and previously unavailable archival material.” You can access this database through our A-Z database list or via this link
